This event is so awesome.  I’m hoping one of the WindyCityEvents.com readers will get to compete and tell us about it!  Check it out:

ESPN Zone (43 E. Ohio St.) began taking entries today for its eighth annual Ultimate Couch Potato competition, scheduled for Jan. 1, 2010. In a nut shell, four sports fanatics from the Chicagoland will square off in a competitive sitting competition on New Year’s Day to see who can watch the most continuous hours of televised sports (bathroom breaks only once every eight hours and no sleeping allowed). Entries close on Dec. 9.  Visit http://www.espnzone.com/ultimatecouchpotato/ for more info and details on how to submit your entry.  One of you better get this and tell us about it!

UPDATE: The four contenders have been chosen and you can watch introductory videos of each person at http://espnzone.com/ultimatecouchpotato/. I think my money is on Jerzy.  Who’s your pick?

Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl fame also has a music career.  And she’s not bad, if you like pop/dance type music.  She’ll be performing tracks from her unreleased album at The Underground (56 West Illinois Street) on January 1 at 10pm.  Yours truly will be going and I’m actually looking forward to it.  I haven’t done the club thing in a while and I’ve heard good things about The Underground and I like to see music performed live.  Stay tuned for my review of both Leighton’s performance and The Underground. Are you thinking of going? Be sure to RSVP. Not sure if they’ll let you in without sending an email before 5pm Friday.  Doors open at 10 and there is a $20 cover charge › Continue reading

Brillante Italian New Year at Tocco (Thurs. 12/31)

Dec ’09

7:00 PM

It’s time to start fretting over which new years party to chose, or in my case, find one to go to at all. Not to worry, Tocco is holding a Brillante Italian New Years celebration with live entertainment as well as the option of three different meal/drink packages– #1: $65 per person for a 5 course meal package (two seatings at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.), #2: $60 per person for the open bar package (from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.), and #3: $115 per person for the package combination.

Tocco will provide an elegant evening that will allow attendees to feel as if they have been transported to a fine European affair. The decadent five-course meal will include lobster, truffles and seafood salad with two antipasti, one primi, one secondi, one dolci and one glass of champagne. That’s so insanely swanky I’m not even quite sure what it means.

If you’re interested in ringing in 2010 in true Italian style at one of the more sophisticated spots, RSVP to the restaurant at 773-687-8895.

Tocco Chicago, 1266 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60642
