Review: Chronicles of the Cursed: Hades Emerges Haunted House

1I have always loved this time of year… the cool but not cold air, falling leaves, Halloween candy and ghouls running at you with a running chain saw.

Okay, maybe not so much the chainsaw, but that’s one of the many surprises I encountered at a sneak preview of the Chronicles of the Cursed Haunted House Thursday night. The atmosphere is set from the minute you enter the waiting area with dim lighting, screams, banging sounds from nearby rooms and have I mentioned ghouls coming at you with real chainsaws?  It takes a lot to make me jump, but I’m not too proud to admit that I jumped at the sight of that chainsaw.

This is not your ordinary, amateur haunted house. In fact, children are not allowed (there is a special children’s viewing scheduled 10/24 from 5pm to 7pm), it’s too scary for them.  Chronicles of the Cursed was created by Hades haunted house creator, Joe Jensen.  Jensen has been creating the experience of fear for 30 years and he doesn’t disappoint here.

I don’t want to give all the surprises away, partially because there are too many, but you will laugh, you will scream and you will jump.

The haunted house covers 20,000 square feet and casts over 50 actors, all with the intentions of scaring you.  From start to finish it took us about 16 minutes to work our way through dark passageways, ghouls, women being tortured, blood, guts and body parts.

We really enjoyed our experience and I will be going again.  If you want to have a great time, get a group of your friends together, or better yet, get a date, and head to 560 W. Grand Ave. [google map].  There is paid parking available or you can take the nearby public transportation.

Weekend Wrap Up

Did you know that this past weekend was the second to last weekend before Summer is officially over?  Yep, this coming weekend is it.  So, given our beautiful weather, I hope you didn’t waste it!

I’ll admit that it was pretty tough going outside with all the great football on TV but I did manage it.

Saturday was a whirlwind of activities.  Starting out at the Les Turner ALS Walk4Life where almost 5000 people walked to support those with ALS.  After the walk I tried hunting down the Ferris Bueller recreation and then headed over to the smARTshow.  Sunday was devoted to football (BOO Bears. Argh.) and family activities.

I would love to hear what you did!  Please feel free to post what you did in the comments.
