We would like to present a ‘Great Service Award’ to Delightful Pastries (@DelightPastries)

delightful_pastriesEvery once in a while, hopefully more often than not, we all have an extraordinary experience with a business. Whether it’s our first time there, or our 1,000th time, it’s great to acknowledge these great experiences.  Well, we just had a wonderful first visit to Delightful Pastries, in Old Town.  After a tweet from Scott Kleinberg popped up in our feed showing a delicious looking paczki, we were on the hunt to try one. For those that don’t know, a paczki is a Polish doughnut. Deep fried dough filled with a sweet filling. They look amazing.

We arrived at Delightful Pastries and were greeted by employees who were so helpful and accommodating that I felt obligated to let everyone that I could reach, know what a great place this is.  The staff there didn’t know that we had a blog and twitter account. All they knew was that we wanted to try a paczki! The young woman behind the counter, I unfortunately didn’t get her name, was so helpful with explaining what the pastry was, the different flavors and how I could special order some. She even offered samples, which I can never turn down! It was a great experience, the paczkis I tried were so tasty and this was an experience that I hope you all will get to have.

If you find yourself near one of their 3 locations, please stop in and check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

Free Thanksgiving Dinner at River Shannon and The Lodge tavern

File:The First Thanksgiving cph.3g04961.jpg

Thursday, November 25th
5pm-The Lodge Tavern
7pm-River Shannon

What’s better than the holidays? Avoiding it with your family (let’s be honest). Add free food, some drinks, and the absence of Uncle Morty’s toupee and you’ve got this tasty, coma-inducing event from The Lodge Tavern and River Shannon. The purchase of one beverage gets you a complimentary turkey dinner with all the trimmings. No thawing, gutting, stuffing, or sawing required. Whether you can’t or just don’t want to spend Turkey day at Aunt Mildred’s, take the pressure off yourself and put the fire department at ease by joining the Rush and Division gang for some free Thanksgiving fare. (Or bring the fam along! Let’s face it, your mom could use the drinks.)

River Shannon will open on Thanksgiving at 7pm and close at 2am, and The Lodge Tavern will open at 5pm and close at 4am.
