The Lincoln Lodge is proud to present nationally touring headliner Todd Barry. He recently released a new special “Todd Barry: The Crowd Work Tour”.

Todd will be the second performer in a new series of events at Evanston’s SPACE (1245 Chicago Ave, Evanston, IL 60202). The Lincoln Lodge and SPACE have created a new regularly occurring show called “The Lincoln Lodge in SPACE!” Once a month, The Lincoln Lodge will bring the country’s top stand-up comedians to the North Shore.

The Lincoln Lodge, now in its fifteenth season, is the nation’s longest running independent stand-up comedy show. Each week, The Lincoln Lodge features the best stand-up comics in Chicago, a special variety act, and a hilarious Man on the Street segment. Regular shows are every Friday at 8:30 PM at the SubT Lounge (2011 W. North Ave), with a different lineup each week. The show is 21+, and there is NO DRINK MINIMUM.

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 dollars for a table seat for the Todd Barry show at SPACE. Doors open at 7:00pm (7:30pm show) and 9:30pm (10:00pm show). The show is ALL AGES. Volcanoes! Oil Spills! Earthquakes!  Floods! Tea Parties! The Jersey Shore!  Disaster certainly struck in 2010.  What does it all mean?  What should we do?  If only someone would intervene and let us know just what needs doing, like Moses did!

Continuing a Skybox tradition, now in its fifth year, *Creepy Hug presents its eleventh original sketch comedy revue, The 2010 Commandments: The Year in Revue.  The comedy team that formed in 2003 will help usher in new commandments as we usher out this past year.  But don’t worry, those first ten that Moses originally brought down still apply, so you only have 2,000 new commandments to remember!  Also, they should be downloadable to your iPad, or other PC tablet, as long as Moses can get decent reception on Mt. Sinai.  › Continue reading

The store front of the Book Cellar; a quaint, sophisticated and downright adorable Lincoln Square bookstore.

Although I really wish I was, I am just not a reader. This is, at long last, not a huge problem. The Book Cellar in Lincoln Square has a bazillion events for the book enthusiast or wannabe-book enthusiast, like myself. Among the events, the Essay Fiesta stood out to me.

Starting this Monday evening at 7 p.m., the third Monday of every month at this book store will be reserved for local comedians-writers Keith Ecker and Alyson Lyon to host humorous, memoir-esque tales of Chicago-area comedians, novelists, poets, journalists, bloggers and playwrights.
Hear funny stories, laugh, sip a latte from the instore cafe, look fancy sitting at a book store event AND feel good about yourself. Why? After the readings is a raffle that benefits the Howard Brown Health Center. Boom, the perfect evening. Maybe you’ll even make some bookie friends or score a date for the next Fiesta.
