Kickoff PRIDE weekend at one of Chicago’s most colorful events in Boystown!
The PRIDE lakefront party near Diversey Harbor is the perfect way to kickoff your PRIDE weekend in style.  Bring some friends and let your true colors shine on the dance floor as DJ Adam LeBlanc from Sixteen Candles brings the beat.  Or, reserve a private cabana and enjoy cocktails and snacks as you watch everyone get their groove on!

The party also includes a 5K fun run (or walk). Come in costume or grab a boa and some beads on us. Just get ready to show your PRIDE in every stride!  The $50 individual race registration fee includes: a limited edition t-shirt, valuable coupons, special gifts from local area businesses and a $10 beverage voucher for use during the party.

Created to celebrate the incredible strides the LGBTQ community has made toward full equality, the PRIDE Lakefront Party.  Come for the fun – and why not run?  Proceeds benefit Center on Halsted.

Join Chicago Canine Rescue for their 1st annual Art Unleashed. This will be their first-ever art auction to benefit the dogs of Chicago Canine Rescue. Over the past 13 years, Chicago Canine Rescue has rescued and rehabilitated over 5,000 dogs taken in from shelters located in Chicago and through the Midwest. In addition to helping both healthy, homeless and abandoned pets, CCR also helps those animals that need us the most – dogs with broken bones, senior dogs, dogs with nursing pups, as well as those in need of heartworm treatment, dental surgery or other medical care. CCR currently houses approximately 70 dogs; last year more than 500 pets were placed into homes and adopted through CCR.

Are you ready to indulge in Turkish flavors for two days in the heart of the city?  Chicago will, once again, go Turkish for two days on September 5-6 at Pioneer Court for the 12th Annual Chicago Turkish Festival.

Following the gala dinner on the night of Thursday, September 4, the festivities will kick off at Pioneer Court (Michigan Ave. and Chicago River Bridge) with tents including, calligraphy, ceramics, gift tents, crystal, information, books, clothing, restaurant/café and many more.

From the world-famous Kahramanmaras ice cream and fresh flavors from local Turkish restaurants to Turkish beer garden by Efes and Turkish wine, the festival promises a journey through Turkey without ever leaving downtown Chicago. Visitors will also be able to get a taste of Turkish pastries and the amazing Turkish coffee while enjoying the shows by modern/folk dancers, Whirling Dervishes, Ottoman Army Marching Band (Mehter), a fashion show and concerts.

Flier 2014On Saturday, May 3, 2014, the Chicago chapter of The National Association of Professional Organizers, a 501(3c) Organization, is proud to present a community organizing event. Members of the chapter and other volunteers will be collecting items from the Chicagoland community for recycling, shredding, and donation to worthy charities. Accepted items will be papers for shredding, clothing, books, eyeglasses, electronics, furniture, kids toys, shoes, coats, blankets, kitchenware, computers, pots & pans, jewelry, linens, decor, accessories, games, media, sports equipment, and recyclables. Unaccepted items will be paint, hazardous waste, and medicine. Entrance will be on Western Ave., and there will be a limit of one car load per family. pfmawJoin Planet Fitness Franchisees, today, December 11, 2013 at 11 AM as they honor Make-A-Wish child Joseph with a check presentation at the Planet Fitness located at 3120 N. Pulaski Road in downtown Chicago.

Planet Fitness is donating $100,000 to Make-A-Wish America this holiday season to help make more children’s wishes come true. Part of the national donation will help grant local wishes in Illinois and throughout the country.

Earlier this week on December 9, Planet Fitness announced a “Holiday Challenge for Wishes” and is encouraging its members and supporters to make an additional donation to Make-A-Wish.
