Holiday themed entertainment at Late Night Andersonville Fest.

I think we all need another reason to leave the house and walk around on a calm winter night under Christmas lights listening to street performers offer their interpretations of Frosty the Snowman. Sure beats a dirty, crowded outlet mall, am I right? Of course I am.
One night only! You better hop on the El on Friday December 4th at 6 p.m. and take advantage of the sales until 10. Not only sales but artist demos, silent auctions, toffee tasting, picture framing workshops, and pictures with Santa (c’mon, those never get old), plus waaaay more. Don’t miss this.

Rosina-mae fashion show (Fri. 11/20)

Nov ’09
20
9:00 PM

Fashion show + Wicker park + night club = one absurdly hip night. Free admission too? There is no reason NOT to be outrageously trendy this Friday (unless, of course, you’re not 21. In that case, I totally feel for you). Debonair Social Club is holding a Rosina-Mae (you know, “What the fashionista wears”!) this Friday starting at 11 p.m., doors at 9.

Drink cocktails, grab some grub, dance with hipsters, witness a super edgy and innovative display of fashion (both on the runway and around the club), and listen to those DJs spin! This is quite the weekend scene. Ladies, grab those sequin clutches and, guys, pull that American Apparel v-neck over your head and walk on down Milkwaukee to DSC and get your juke and fashion on! › Continue reading

The store front of the Book Cellar; a quaint, sophisticated and downright adorable Lincoln Square bookstore.

Although I really wish I was, I am just not a reader. This is, at long last, not a huge problem. The Book Cellar in Lincoln Square has a bazillion events for the book enthusiast or wannabe-book enthusiast, like myself. Among the events, the Essay Fiesta stood out to me.

Starting this Monday evening at 7 p.m., the third Monday of every month at this book store will be reserved for local comedians-writers Keith Ecker and Alyson Lyon to host humorous, memoir-esque tales of Chicago-area comedians, novelists, poets, journalists, bloggers and playwrights.
Hear funny stories, laugh, sip a latte from the instore cafe, look fancy sitting at a book store event AND feel good about yourself. Why? After the readings is a raffle that benefits the Howard Brown Health Center. Boom, the perfect evening. Maybe you’ll even make some bookie friends or score a date for the next Fiesta.

The Portage Theater is an historic theater that opened in the 1920′s, and it has been hosting an assortment of different events and movies there (they had a night of Point Break last week).  It will be a great way to watch films the way that the minds behind them intended them to be seen.  Plus, it’s only $7.
