Late Night Andersonville Festival (Fri. 12/4)
| Dec ’09 |

The Late Night Andersonville Festival is a fabulous way to continue tackling your shopping by treating yourself to complimentary refreshments entertainment (who doesn’t love free stuff? I mean, really) while enjoying significant discounts on unique presents and after-hour meals.

Holiday themed entertainment at Late Night Andersonville Fest.
I think we all need another reason to leave the house and walk around on a calm winter night under Christmas lights listening to street performers offer their interpretations of Frosty the Snowman. Sure beats a dirty, crowded outlet mall, am I right? Of course I am.
One night only! You better hop on the El on Friday December 4th at 6 p.m. and take advantage of the sales until 10. Not only sales but artist demos, silent auctions, toffee tasting, picture framing workshops, and pictures with Santa (c’mon, those never get old), plus waaaay more. Don’t miss this.

Millenium Park Ice Skating (11/18-3/14)
| Nov ’09 | Mar |
| 18 | 14 |
The time is finally here. The McCormick Tribune ice rink in Millenium Park is now officially OPEN (You didn’t know it was called the McCormick Tribune ice rink? Yeah, neither did anyone else). There doesn’t seem to be a time when it is not absolutely crowded, but it’s a fun outing regardless.
The skating is FREE (yes, a free Chicago event!), buuuut renting a pair of skates will set you back $10. Not a big deal however; you can skate around to holiday tunes all day if you really wanted to. My personal favorite way to enjoy this seasonal event is to simply lean over the railing and watch the talented glide over the ice and the less than talented suffer some serious wipeouts. Honestly, it’s just as fun.
The ice rink is open through March 14th, but I’d scoot on over before Christmas to get the added bonus of the holiday playlist.
The rink is open Monday-Thursday noon-8 p.m., Friday noon-10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and is located on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison streets; you really can’t miss it.
Holiday martini class (Wed. 11/18)
| Nov ’09 |

| 6:30 PM |
Halloween is over… thus the winter holiday frenzy is officially in full swing. No matter the holiday you toast to in late December, gatherings and get-togethers are inevitable (bad sweaters and drunken dancing are also likely). And if you’re hosting one of these holiday pow-wows this year, Chen’s Chinese and Sushi restaurant of Chicago is ready to make you look like the best host/hostess to ever set out a shrimp tray.
This Wednesday, Chens’ “Martini Team” is holding a holiday martini class for the ambitious, over-achieving holiday party-thrower. The class starts at 6:30 p.m. and the ’tini crew won’t stop pouring until 8. The $20 class will teach you how to make themed drinks like the mint-chocolate martini and will supply you with samples and hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening. Reservations are required, so get on it and get ready to accept rave reviews from party guests and feel overwhelming pressure to host next season’s holiday hoe-down.

Rosina-mae fashion show (Fri. 11/20)
| Nov ’09 |

| 9:00 PM |
Fashion show + Wicker park + night club = one absurdly hip night. Free admission too? There is no reason NOT to be outrageously trendy this Friday (unless, of course, you’re not 21. In that case, I totally feel for you). Debonair Social Club is holding a Rosina-Mae (you know, “What the fashionista wears”!) this Friday starting at 11 p.m., doors at 9.

The store front of the Book Cellar; a quaint, sophisticated and downright adorable Lincoln Square bookstore.
Although I really wish I was, I am just not a reader. This is, at long last, not a huge problem. The Book Cellar in Lincoln Square has a bazillion events for the book enthusiast or wannabe-book enthusiast, like myself. Among the events, the Essay Fiesta stood out to me.
